Terms of Use & Participant Agreement

1. About REACT

REACT is a technology platform that connects individuals experiencing a medical emergency with nearby volunteer medical professionals who respond as Good Samaritans. The platform prompts direct 911 contact. REACT does not employ, contract, direct, supervise, or control any responding individual. No agency, employment, or professional-patient relationship is created between REACT and any user, patient, or responder.

2. Volunteer responders — no liability for outcome

Every responder acts voluntarily, without compensation, and without expectation of reward. They assume no legal responsibility for the outcome of any situation they respond to, provided they act in good faith and within their credentialed scope of practice. REACT bears no liability for the acts, omissions, or outcomes of a responder's actions.

3. Good Samaritan protections

Responding professionals acting through REACT are intended to be protected under Good Samaritan statutes, which provide immunity from civil liability for those who provide emergency assistance in good faith, without compensation, outside a professional setting, absent gross negligence.

4. Scope of authorized services

Responders may provide basic life support (CPR, rescue breathing, recovery position), assessment and monitoring, AED operation, hemorrhage control, naloxone where covered by standing orders, assistance with a patient's own prescribed medications, and advanced interventions only for credentialed providers within their individual scope and current licensure.

5. Handoff protocol

When EMS arrives, the REACT volunteer must identify themselves, immediately transfer command of the scene and patient care to EMS, provide a complete verbal handoff, and complete the REACT incident report within 24 hours.

6. No compensation

All assistance is rendered without charge to the patient and without compensation to the responder. Responders receive no payment, fee, or benefit from REACT, the patient, or any third party.

7. Platform limitations & disclaimer

REACT makes no warranty regarding the availability, response time, qualification, outcome, or reliability of any response, communication, or location data. REACT does not guarantee a responder will be available. 911 remains the primary emergency service — always call 911. REACT disclaims liability for harm arising from use or inability to use the platform, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. Governing law

These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, with disputes resolved through binding arbitration, while preserving all protections available under applicable Good Samaritan statutes. Final governing-law and dispute terms are subject to legal review.
